The most precise Solar Energy Panels definition is simply:

Energy from the sun.

But what is solar energy really? There are two types of solar energy:

Thermal Energy & Electric Energy

Thermal Energy

Thermal energy is everywhere. And "light at present. It warms the earth, our bodies and our homes. It dries our clothes and do not care that produce sun-dried tomatoes. All free!

It is also used for domestic water heating or swimming pools. There are two ways that water can be heated:

1. Is activated when a conventional heating element within the solar hot water system heats water on hot days.
2. Passive, when the water is preheated before being placed in the cold inlet of a conventional gas / electric water heater.

Electric Energy

The electricity solar panels is used the sun's energy to produce electricity from solar cells, otherwise how photovoltaic (PV) for the production of notes. It can be applied in three ways:

1. Independent

2. Networking

3. Back-up

Stand-alone: also called Solar Home System (SHS)

A system not connected to the network. In most cases, these systems are in remote areas where no electricity utilities supplied, installed and vacation homes at a distance.

It is often advisable to install a solar power system, such as the laying of power cables on the site. excess energy can be a battery for use at a time when there are only stored.

Grid-connected:

A system is the use of electricity supplied is related to the property, but the owners intend to pick clean energy, free from the sun. Usually, in an attempt to live a sustainable environment.

Today is that the solar system, then whenever the battery when installed and, finally, the network if it is still necessary.

Back-up:

A system for an unreliable network, or a combination of poor quality. These types are usually installed in areas where there are many power outages. A small service system, the most important electrical appliances and lighting, but a more comprehensive system is needed to keep the fridge running during a blackout.

So, what is solar energy used for then?

1. To provide heating

2. To provide electricity
